This resonated with me so much, especially the reminder to stay calm instead of matching their big emotions. What really helped us during those rough toddler meltdowns was getting down on eye level and whispering instead of trying to talk over the noise. It immediately catches their attention and usually de-escalates things before the whole evening goes off the rails.
